Who we are

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

The Gen-E Foundation invests in achieving positive outcomes for young people in rural communities close to renewable energy projects.

We focus on education, professional sports development and essential skills programmes, unlocking opportunities for future generations to thrive. We design and operate high-impact educational, athletic, skills development and nutrition-focused programmes, and we run them ourselves rather than writing cheques and hoping.

Our programmes

Initiatives designed for impact

We have identified five key initiatives that offer real, measurable outcomes. Together they form one pathway: find the talent, place it in a good school, build the academy, prepare the athlete for life after sport, keep them fed, and fund the whole thing sustainably.

Our history

A road trip, not a boardroom

The Gen-E story is a road trip, inspired by the dusty backroads of South Africa's agricultural and farming communities. It starts more than ten years ago, and it literally follows Demetri Pappadopoulos in his jeep across the Eastern Cape.

Our foundation

We are bound by the promise of a positive outcome.

We strive to shape positive futures by integrating trust, respect and innovation into everything we do.

Impact in action

Measured, reported, adjusted

Our programmes are in a constant state of development so that they attain their most effective results. We maintain ongoing measurement and reporting to provide vital feedback to sponsors and investors.

Our ultimate goal is to develop highly skilled and financially independent young adults, playing meaningful roles in their communities and actively contributing to society in general.

Gen-E is a registered PBO and can issue a Section 18A tax certificate for your contribution, if required.
